Privacy policy

Salud Everywhere is a personal, independent project. It sells no advertising, shares no data with advertisers and uses no third-party cookies. This page explains, plainly, what data is collected, what for, and for how long.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Bruno Abarca, author and editor of Salud Everywhere (saludeverywhere.com).

For any question about your data, including a request to have it deleted, you can write to babarca@saludeverywhere.com.

What data is collected and why

Contact form. If you write to me through the contact form, I collect your message and your email address, which I need in order to reply to you. The legal basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the form.

Feedback forms at the end of each page. At the foot of the content pages there is a short form for collecting views on the material published ("what works? what could be improved?"). The text field is required; the email address is optional and is only needed if you would like a reply. If you leave it blank, the comment arrives without any data that could identify you. I use these messages solely to correct errors and improve the content. The legal basis is your consent.

Please note that the text field is open: I ask that you do not enter any personal data that is not necessary, nor any information about patients or third parties.

Usage analytics. I use Umami Cloud to see which pages are read and from which countries, without identifying anyone. This tool sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses and does not track visitors across websites. The data it produces is aggregated: number of visits, pages viewed, country, device type and referring page. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in understanding the use of a freely accessible educational resource, a minimal-risk form of processing that does not allow specific individuals to be identified.

Server logs. Like any website, the server hosting Salud Everywhere generates technical logs that may include IP addresses, for security and operational reasons. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and available.

Spam protection. The forms are protected with Cloudflare Turnstile, an alternative to captchas that verifies that whoever submits the form is a person. To work, it processes technical data about the connection, including the IP address.

Reflection exercises and case studies. Some pages include boxes where you can write your own answers to reflection questions or practical cases, and then copy them to your clipboard. What you write there is not sent anywhere or stored anywhere: it exists only in your browser while the page is open and disappears when you close or reload it. I do not receive it, no third party receives it, and it is not recorded on the site. Please note that, when you press the button, Gemini Notebook (a Google service) opens in a new tab: if you choose to paste your text there, that content becomes subject to Google's terms and privacy policy, not mine.

Cookies. Salud Everywhere uses no advertising or third-party tracking cookies. It may use strictly technical cookies, necessary for the site to work and to remember your language preference.

The AI-powered career adviser

The site includes an experimental tool that offers general guidance on careers in the humanitarian sector. It deserves a separate explanation because, unlike the rest of the site, it sends information to external services.

When you use this tool:

  • Your query is sent to the Anthropic API (Claude), whose servers are in the United States, to generate the reply. Anthropic automatically deletes its API inputs and outputs within 30 days and, under its commercial terms, does not use them to train its models. The international transfer is covered by the standard contractual clauses provided for by the European Commission.
  • Your browser queries the ReliefWeb public API directly (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) to retrieve vacancies and publications. This query goes out from your own browser, so ReliefWeb receives your IP address without any involvement on my part. Use of that information is governed by the United Nations privacy policy.
  • I do not store the queries you type into the tool.
  • To prevent abuse, the tool limits the number of queries per user per day by means of a technical counter.

I ask you expressly not to enter any personal data, medical information or data about other people into this tool. The guidance it offers is general and automated: it is not individualised professional advice, nor is any decision about you made automatically on the basis of what you write.

With whom the data is shared

I do not sell, rent or share data with anyone. The only third parties involved are the service providers needed for the site to work:

  • LucusHost. Site hosting. Spain (EU).
  • Umami. Cookieless analytics. European Union.
  • Cloudflare. Form protection (Turnstile). USA / global network.
  • Anthropic. Career adviser response generation. USA.
  • ReliefWeb (OCHA / United Nations). Career adviser public data. International organisation.

Transfers outside the European Economic Area are covered by the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or by equivalent safeguards.

How long the data is kept

  • Contact form messages and feedback form messages: these are kept for as long as they remain useful for replying to you and improving the content, and in any case are deleted no later than 24 months after receipt. I review and clear out these messages once a year.
  • Analytics data: this is kept for six months and then automatically deleted. It is aggregated data that does not allow individuals to be identified.
  • Server logs: these are kept for the usual period set by the hosting provider.

If a message is ever kept beyond that period because it is especially useful, any data that could identify the sender is removed beforehand.

Your rights

You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability at any time by writing to babarca@saludeverywhere.com. If you wrote to me without leaving your email address, I hold no data that identifies you, so I cannot locate your message: in that case, tell me the approximate date and the content so that I can find it and delete it.

If you consider that your data is not being processed in accordance with the regulations, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).

Minors

Salud Everywhere is a resource aimed at professionals and students in the humanitarian and public health sector. It is not aimed at minors and does not knowingly collect data from people under the age of 14.

Changes to this policy

If I change tools or providers, I will update this page and note the date of the last revision.

When you submit this form, you accept that your message will be processed in accordance with the privacy policy. The email address is optional and is only used to reply to you.
